Inspiration

There is so much to inspire us, whether the beauties of the natural world and its changing seasons or the latest offerings from the flourishing art, design and food scenes. Take a look at what By Word of Mouth loves and what the team as been up to.

Innovation in Food Waste Analysis comes to BWoM HQ

Team BWoM is taking a major step in the fight against food waste as the first event caterer to partner with Orbisk. This progressive and innovative, AI-led system will ultimately enable us to reduce the food waste we generate in our kitchens.  How does it do this?  By recognising, weighing and analysing our food waste and providing us with accurate data on what is being thrown away each day.

This is an exciting and important step for By Word of Mouth as we embrace new measures to help us work as sustainably as possible.  There is more to come as we partner with Orbisk to develop further technology for our industry but, for the moment, we are looking forward to using the data provided by Orbisk to make changes, reduce our food waste and take another positive step on our sustainability journey.

National Portrait Gallery's Royal Reopening

The National Portrait Gallery reopened to huge acclaim in June after a three year refurbishment programme.  By Word of Mouth was chosen to provide the catering for its glittering reopening parties and was thrilled to create a bespoke menu of canapes for the VIP guests, including HRH The Princess of Wales who formally reopened the Gallery during a lunchtime reception.

That same evening, over 1500 guests from the worlds of art, performance and entertainment, flocked to the spectacular reopening party, described by the Evening Standard as being “a masterclass in how to throw a party“.  Food bars and canapes were offered across the 3 floors, Courtney Love acted as DJ and the Fortnum & Mason’s Champagne flowed.  It was truly a spectacular occasion and put the NPG on the map once again, not only for the extraordinary portraiture that fills its galleries, but also as a fantastic events venue.

The National Gallery's Summer Party

By Word of Mouth brought all the summer style, chic and logistical expertise to one of the most talked about parties of the summer season: The National Gallery’s Summer Party.

This glamorous soiree set new standards for magnificence and artistic impact, placing the Gallery fully and deservedly in the spotlight for its creativity and vision.

This year’s party was inspired by the exhibition After Impressionism: Inventing Modern Art, and guests were greeted on arrival by the impressive sight of a team of waiting staff lining the staircase with welcome drinks.  A magnificent pair of red curtains at the entrance to the party teased the fabulous set up that lay within the galleries.

Over 700 guests enjoyed By Word of Mouth’s menu of freshly prepared seafood, freshly shucked oysters offered from roaming trolleys, classic French dishes served in glass verrines, ripe artisan cheeses, and immaculate patisseries.

Plant Power

Whether you follow a  fully plant-based diet or just enjoy an oat milk coffee, you will be part of a growing movement that we are all increasingly comfortable with.  Conversations around climate-change, sustainability and the future of our planet regularly underline the many positives of plant-based eating and, here at By Word of Mouth, we have seen a surge in interest from clients wanting to include vegan options as part of their event menu. All of our menus features a plant-based section and, from our No Waste, Tomato Zero canape (offered in support of City Harvest London) to an extravagant 70% chocolate and espresso brownie, our vegan dishes offer all the flavour, texture and artistry you would expect from our chefs.  Get in touch if you would like to find out more about our plant based menus.

The Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts

The Summer Exhibition is a joyful, colourful display of  art in all its forms, and is open at the RA until 21st August.  We love this inclusive exhibition, with contributions from both established names and emerging talent.  Whether you want to soak up the atmosphere and wander the galleries to see how this year’s theme of Climate has been interpreted, or if you are on the look out for a fabulous piece to buy, the Summer Exhibition will inspire, engage and provoke.  By Word of Mouth was honoured to be the catering partner for the Preview Party for the 2022 Summer Exhibition – an evening of beautiful food and drink with a sustainable theme.
