Last week the By Word of Mouth buying team, in a hunt for exotic flowers, found ourselves early on a Monday morning at the brand new home for New Convent Garden Market. Bleary eyed, with coffee in hand we stepped into the bright new space just a short walk from the original Market in Nine Elms.
Open 4:00-10:00am every Monday to Saturday, the Market-goers include some of London’s most celebrated florists, including Simon Lycett who described the new market as “the most exciting thing that’s ever happened”. And after seeing it for ourselves, we would have to agree!
For those who struggle to keep any plant alive, C.Best is located at one end of the market and stocks an extensive range of convincingly realistic artificial flowers as well as a vast array of vases, pots and inspiring stylish decorative pieces.
The volume and variety of plants, flowers and foliage available throughout the market is staggering and yet the space it so open, light and orderly it doesn’t take long to find exactly what you need. Even if you aren’t a morning person, the new New Covent Garden Market is well worth a visit and, if the flowers don’t brighten your mood, the enthusiasm of the stall holders for their new home will.
