When the world went into lockdown approximately 9 weeks ago, we made two decisions. Firstly, we jumped at the chance to work as part of the Mealforce initiative (generously powered by Marshall Wace), creating thousands delicious dishes for our NHS heroes in 3 of London’s hospitals (at the latest count, over 70k meals). Secondly, we felt the time was right to develop a new member of the the BWoM family, one that embodied all of our brand values but offered something different to the core business. At that point, the seed was sown for By Word of Mouth At Home, a doorstep delivery service of delicious, chef-made frozen dishes.
By Word of Mouth At Home offers a complete contrast to the fine dining experience offered at By Word of Mouth‘s events. Its dishes are wholesome and homely – the sort the team enjoys during their down time. That said, every delicious dish is handmade in our kitchens, by our own chefs using the same exceptional ingredients that have helped By Word of Mouth develop its reputation for excellence.
These are ready meals with a difference, that embody the By Word of Mouth tradition for flavour and quality. Example dishes from the initial range (which is to be expanded in the coming weeks and months) include Salmon en Croute with Beetroot & Lemon Rice, a spicy Thai Green Chicken Curry, vegan Jackfruit Enchiladas and an irresistible Apple & Rhubarb Crumble spiced with ginger. Apart from the main dishes, a Kids At Home range, selection of stupendous sides and a list of our favourite wines means that By Word of Mouth At Home offers convenience without compromise in just a few clicks.
We are not forgetting our heroic friends at food surplus charity, City Harvest who are working harder than ever, distributing food to the vulnerable and needy across London. The opportunity to donate to this inspiring charity is offered through By Word of Mouth At Home‘s website. Just as soon as By Word of Mouth is back creating its beautiful events, our two charity canapes, sold in support of City Harvest will be back on the menu and we cannot wait for this to happen.
In the meantime, we are nurturing the newest member of the BWoM family and feeling thankful to have been able to contribute to the fight against the Coronavirus in the best way we could: by cooking delicious food for the heroic NHS staff working on the front line.
