Pared back, cool restraint and the uber-contemporary approach that dictated the look and feel of events for several years appear to have been put to rest in 2016 and replaced with a desire for fun, artistry and a penchant for vivid colours. To our delight, fully themed parties have made a bold come back and, in the last month of 2016 alone, we embraced Shanghai Nights, Dinner under the Stars, ‘Christmas Overload’ and Neon as well as several parties where the focus was on family style dining with a relaxed, sociable vibe. Clients are being bold and imaginative with their colour choices and luxurious shades such as saffron yellow, Venetian red and mulberry purple are adding a warm and elegant glow, especially in candle light. We have also noticed a real enthusiasm for all the extra, personalised details that go in to making a truly bespoke event such as embroidered scarves on the back of each guest’s chair, block printed napkins or Murano water glasses in a rainbow of colours sent from Venice to add a jewel like finish to the dining tables.
